7 days left until the big day!

Have a lovely day everybody! 🙂

This day has come eventually… today is the day when the real countdown starts, because I only have a week left! Last weekend, last Monday, last Tuesday, last… everything :(.
This last 2 weeks has been more than intense and hectic for me. I have mixed emotions, most of the time I am happy and excited, but on the other hand I feel sorrow as well… not easy at all, believe me, I even burst into tears sometimes. Somehow I also feel myself lonelier than every before in my life. I meet many of my friends, I spend lots of time with my sisters, I’m at home with my parents, but I still have this unexplained feeling. Damn, I’m gonna leave in a week and who knows what’s gonna happen to me, when I’m gonna come back and live in my country again?! Maybe never. Who knows? Sometimes unpredictable future is a bit scary.

Enough about my crazy feelings, I don’t wanna get sad again! 🙂
Sooo, I’ve got some news recently. Unfortunately I still have no idea what fleets I’m gonna operate on, my Induction Specialist hasn’t contacted me yet. Oh, I think I haven’t mentioned, but I have new IS! 😮 As I have written before, I got Lucy, but few days ago it turned to Wafa. She is a Tunisian lady, according to her introduction, she used to fly with Emirates before and she even became a purser! I hope she is gonna send me the e-mail very soon, long waiting isn’t pleasant at all. 🙂

On Tuesday I’ve received my e-ticket and e-visa. Actually this is the moment when your leaving gets 100%! Exactly in a week I will be on the BUD-DXB flight, no matter what! Amazing, isn’t it? 😀

visácska

The top of my UAE visa 🙂

Actually this visa is valid only until 25 December. As far as I know, we get the residential visa later, so this one seems to be a temporary one. Well, you can still go home once you get there… (never ever!)

In the meanwhile, I’ve already booked my seat on my flight. As soon as you get your e-ticket, go to the main page of the Emirates website, click on the “Manage an existing booking” menu and you can start. Very useful, I wanted to make sure I have window seat on the left side which somehow I prefer :). Lilla, my friend who will be my cabin crew, suggested me to sit close to the galley in order to stay close to the crew 🙂 I hope I am gonna get some special pampering as a joining crew :P. Lilla said they would serve ice cream, I assume that’s pretty close to great pampering 😀 .

This is the seat that I’ve picked, 35A. As you can see it is quite back, very close to the galley. Maybe a bit too back, what do you think? I might change it to 33A, but not sure yet. Why I care that much?! I have no idea! 🙂

I also sorted my clothes out, I start packing on next week. I hope everything will fit into 50 kg capacity. I also gonna do a deep cleaning in my room and sort out all my other stuff. Probably I will throw many things away… this is life :). Some things must come to an end but it means new beginning.

  1. Hi Dorottya,

I was your age when I moved to the Middle East and reading your blog brings back all those memories and feelings. I can assure you the excitement won’t go away for a while because you will continue to discover new things when you get to Dubai. But the fear and anxiety might also linger for a while, simply because everything is new. You’ll have a great time, though and you’ll learn a lot about yourself. Be proud of yourself for taking this bold step at 23 🙂 for its quite an achievement.

    Congratulations and best wishes

  2. Hi Dorottya,

I love your blog. I just left a comment, but it disappeared so apologies if it gets posted twice.

I just wanted to tell you that I left for the Middle East when I was your age (almost 10 years ago) and all the feelings you speak about brings back so many memories for me as I’d gone through the exact same experiences. Your excitement will remain once you get to Dubai because there’s so much to discover all the time. Your anxiety and fears might linger a bit too for the same reason, but I’m sure you’ll have a blast and well done for taking such a bold step at 23 🙂 It’s something to be proud of. Just take it all in your stride and leave all expectations at home as that’s the best way to learn about a new thing.

    Congratulations and best wishes…

What did you do in Dubai? Were you a cabin crew as well? 🙂

      1. Hi Dorottya,

I was very close to Dubai – I was in Bahrain. And I was a skincare therapist. I’m currently cabin crew in my home country and hope to apply to Etihad or Emirates in the near future 🙂 I miss the Middle East.

      2. Skincare therapist? Like beautician? I’m a qualified beautician as well! Only few months ago I got a kind of job offer in this field in Bahrain, what a coincidence! 😀

I wish you best of luck when your times come and you start the application process with one of the Middle Eastern airlines! 🙂 Bahrain also has its airline, Gulf Air! I love their uniform! ^^

  3. Hi there 🙂 I completely understand how you feel. EK has been my dream for years! Never tried it though, I have to finish my university first which is going to be very soon 🙂 I have been thinking that if I ever get accepted this will probably be the hardest part. Last week, last Friday, last weekend at home, last everything. But remember that even though it is scary, it is also a beginning of something new and wonderful. And you can always come back if you want to 🙂 You earned it, you worked hard for it and now its time to enjoy it. Hope to meet you one day in DXB.
    Love from Slovakia,

    1. Dear Petra, thank you very much for your words! 🙂 This is exactly what my dad says everytime I get emotional – I can always come home if I feel like! He is right, my home always remains my home even if I’m thousands kilometers away.
      Thanks again! 🙂

Ps.: let me know if you have any questions, plus update me once you get the job! 😉

  6. Hi Dorottya! 🙂 Thank you a lot for your reply, I understand you’re busy now.
Actually I’m thinking now about Etihad but doubt is tormenting me sometimes cause ‘m still having myself disposed to Emirates and hope very much to get job in EK. Anyway I’ll get position of cabin crew either in Emirates or in Etihad. I must make it. 🙂
P.S. By the way Kidsun is my nickname here, my name is Polina 🙂

    1. Oh, nice to meet you Polina 🙂 :P.
Etihad must be a great company as well. They have less crew than Emirates, which means it’s easier to climb the corporate ladder. I also love their uniform, it’s so classic and chick! My main goal was EK as well, but I wouldn’t mind to work for Etihad too :). The result is the same, isn’t it?
